Sadly, we all have to go through the experience of death sometimes in our lives.  Sometimes words of comfort help. Nicholas Sparks is so talented and speaks right from the heart.  I hope these quotes by Nicholas Sparks help you.

“I have come to realize that destiny can hurt a person as much as it can bless them, and I find myself wondering why--out of all the people in all the world I could ever have loved--I had to fall in love with someone who was taken away from me.”
Nicholas Sparks, Message in a Bottle

“I love you, Savannah, and I always will," I breathed. "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. You were my best friend and my lover, and I dont regret a single moment of it. You made me feel alive again, and most of all, you gave me my father. I'll never forget you for that. You're always going to be the very best part of me. I'm sorry it has to be this way, but I have to leave, and you have to see your husband." As I spoke, I could feel her shaking with sobs, and I continued to hold her for a long time afterward. When we finally seperated, I knew that it would be the last time I ever held her. I backed away, my eyes holding Savannah's. "I love you, too, John," she said. "Good-bye." I raised a hand.”
 Nicholas Sparks, Dear John

“The reason it hurts so much to separate is because our souls are connected.
Sadly, we all have to go through the experience of death sometimes in our lives. Sometimes words of comfort help. Nicholas Sparks is so talented and speaks right from the heart.
Maybe they always have been and will be. Maybe we've lived a thousand lives before this one and in each of them we've found each other. And maybe each time, we've been forced apart for the same reasons. That means that this goodbye is both a goodbye for the past ten thousand years and a prelude to what will come.”
 Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook

“I call it God Light, because it reminds me of heaven. Every time the light shines through the window we built or any window at all, you'll know I'm right there with you, okay? That's going to be me. I'll be the light in the window.”
 Nicholas Sparks, The Last Song

“Dusk is just an illusion because the sun is either above the horizon or below it. And that means that day and night are linked in a way that few things are there cannot be one without the other yet they cannot exist at the same time. How would it feel I remember wondering to be always together yet forever apart?”
  Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook

These are beautiful, Fran, and they do bring me comfort. I think a lot about death these days, as my mother probably isn't going to live that much longer. Even though I've had such a rocky relationship with her, I'm scared of losing her, of the irrevocableness of it. Thanks, your article was really timely for me :)

You are so much like me! I also had a rocky relationship with my Mother. When she died, I felt so horrible - I still do. It is never the same once you lose your Mom. I guess that I am depressing you, but it is true.

Thanks for your kind words, Jennifer.

Very good.. Many of us have had relationships that were troubling, and life has a way of making us feel horrible when things do not work out the way they should. There is never a good way to lose someone, and we all need the love and grace that only God can give during those times. Thanks Fran for such good words.

One of he hardest lessons for me to learn is that death is a part of life. Seems at this age, death of friends and relatives is more and more frequent. Acceptance is a daily thing. Hope these quotes help others.

Thanks, Elle.

Hi Fran,

Just this morning I said to my 81 year old husband (who by the way is the poster boy for aging and in perfect health), "You can't die honey, how I would survive the missing you". Of course I understand the inevitability of death but sometimes my heart doesn't think it could survive the irrevocableness of his death.

Oh, and another thing. Having had a difficult relationship with my mother, I was unable to give her my heart until five years after her death. Thanks for the topic. Dawn

Dawn, we are alike on both counts: (1) I don't know how I would survive my husband's death...he is wonderful...my best friend, but I try to remember that God is already at the future for whatever happens.

(2) I had a difficult relationship with my mother, which causing grief and regret that never goes away.

I know as a writer, it is not creative to keep posting quotes, but I guess quotes are just so meaningful for me; hence, my website.
