Seriously, is there a way to have a relationship with a man and still be focused on our goals and ourselves? Haven’t we all, as females asked ourselves that question over and over again?
Jennifer Stewart found the answer to this question. It all began when she read “He’s Just Not Into You." (A book by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo that wowed the country and a movie was made from the book.)
Ms Stewart liked the content of this book, but the title, “He’s Just Not Into You” bothered her. After lamenting about the title of a book that readers devoured, Ms Stewart finally realized why she did not like the title Here are her words:
Eureka! Who's the subject in the title of the book? Women? Girls? Nope. Wrong side of the Gender Fence. The subject is "he" – meaning boys, men. And the object is "you" – meaning us, women, girls. And there you have it - the men and their behavior are the subject, they come first. We women and our behavior are the object, and we come second. They’re the active ones, we’re the passive or reactive ones.
The author does not apologize for saying and believing “it’s a man’s world.”
It’s going to remain a man’s world until we face that and do what we need to do to make it as much a woman’s world. Which means addressing our own entitlement and self-esteem.
You may be wondering how you could live a fulfilling life as an individual, have an equal relationship and also a career that you do not have to compromise. Ms Stewart has all the answers in the very informative book.
“It’s going to remain a man’s world until we face that and do what
we need to do to make it as much a woman’s world. Which means
addressing our own entitlement and self-esteem.”
Here is an example of some of the intriguing subjects that she talks about:
· Change can be so scary
· Fine, we’ll change
· Unconditional Love
· Let it out!
· It’s all their fault!
So, ladies, maybe we should be asking ourselves “ But Am I In To Him,” Instead of “He’s Just Not Into You.”
I would recommend this page-turning and informational book to every woman who has a relationship with a man.

Top-level comments on this article: (4 total)HI fran thanks for sharing. Let those that believe its a mans world continue to do so, but iI'm not sure I'm convinced because was it not woman that brought man into this world.
Keep wellThat is true, of course. It's like when Mother's Day comes around - should be combined with father's day because it takes two!
However, this book taught me a lot about self-esteem. I have a wonderful husband, but sometimes I don't feel that my agenda is as important as his. For me, it was a good learning experience.
Hi Fran,
What a great commentary on this book. I am sure that I could learn a lot by reading her Ms Stewart's work. It is a daunting task to become both independent and interdependent.
Be well, dawnYou are right. It is a balancing act, especially for us older women. I think we were raised up to forget about ourselves and just please our husband. Jennifer makes some very good points about truth and being who you really are.
Thanks so much for reading my book review!
We are all a product of our parents training, and our generational beliefs of position, as it relates to marriage and rearing children.
Great review of the book, thanks. That is so true, but maybe we could change (if we need to). I see my daughters deal with marriage issues much more aggressively than I ever did. My daughters probably think I am a real wimp!
Thanks so much for writing this, Fran!It was my pleasure. I have also submitted it to Divine Caroline and The Examiner. I will send it to you as soon as it is approved.
I really don't feel I could/did say enough about what a helpful book this is and how talented you are!
Hugs, Fran
