I just got an e-mail from my daughter in California requesting my “angel biscuit” recipe. So I thought, why not share it with my readers. It isn’t as difficult as it sounds.
I prepare it the night before and keep it covered in the refrigerator.
I hope you enjoy this recipe. Truly, these little gems melt in your mouth.
Angel Biscuits
1 teaspoon salt
5 cups all purpose flour
3 Tablespoons Sugar
3 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1 Teaspoon Soda
¾ Cup Shortening
1 package dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
2 cups buttermilk
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt. Cut in shortening. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in buttermilk. Add buttermilk mixture to dry ingredients and stir until well moistened. Cover and chill. When ready to use, roll out dough (1/2 to ¾ inch). Cut out circles with very small drinking glass. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake 400 degrees for 12 minutes.
