Our whole family was taking a vacation at the beach. This included my 4 daughters, their husbands and children. It was always a fun time getting together and usually took place the 4th of July week. The family loved swimming, riding the waves and fishing. My husband, Jim loves to fish.
One day, he came in from fishing with his rod and reel in one hand and tackle box in the other hand.
“What happened?”
“ Well, I threw my fishing line out and I noticed a little boy coming closer to where I threw out my line and I was concerned about his safety. I merely said, 'you might want to move over a little bit, so I don’t hit you when I cast.'”
Later on that evening, when we were gathered outside for a cook-out, we noticed the little boy with his parents. He recognized Jim.
“There goes that crazy old man”, he announced.
The next year when we went on vacation, my son-in-law had tee shirts made for everyone. The tee shirts said, “I’m with that crazy old man.”
Jim’s tee shirt said, “I’m the crazy old man.”
I guess it’s like tossing a coin. It’s all in how you look at it. Heads: Jim was trying to look after the boy’s safety and tails he is just a “crazy old man.”
