Tell me if I am wrong, but don’t you think these recent quotes are indicative of hate and ignorance? It is scary to think that these people are leaders of our country.

Oklahoma State Representative Sally Kern said, "homosexuality poses a greater threat to America that terrorist attacks.” In 2008, she made the same statement and added, “It is a cancer that’s spreading across America. She seems to be known for her racist remarks. She once said, “blacks don’t work as hard as white people.”

A woman who calls herself “birther queen” stated that Rick Perry will “get Obama and have him put in jail for social security fraud. She also said that ”she is pretty sure (the Perry Campaign) will bring up the birth certificate issue, but she said their strategy will be to wait and use it at the last possible moment to make sure that there is no primary challenger in the Democrat party.”

Michele Buchman said “not all cultures are equal” and she criticized the tribalism of Muslims immigrating to the country, when asked about rioting Muslim youth in France. She went on to say, “Those who are coming into France, which had a beautiful culture, the French culture is actually diminished. It’s going away. And just with the population in France, they are losing Western Europeans, and it’s being taken over by a Muslim ethic. Not that Muslims are bad, but they are not assimilating.”

Allen West of Florida said he blamed multiculturism for making America venerable. . “My fear is that maybe we could end up forgetting what happened on 9/11 because of political correctness or the desire to be a multi-cultural America,” he said.

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe last year, Perry said this about Social Security, “Why is the federal government even in the pension program or the health care delivery program? Let the states do that.” Unless his own words are a source of misinformation, it is hard to see how he isn’t advocating for the end, rather than the reform, of Social Security.

Tell me what you think about these quotes.

In a word, Fran, (albeit a hyphenated word!) I think it all comes down to fear-mongering. There is a portion of the population who, if you can get them to be fearful, will go along with anything no matter how illogical.

Unscrupulous politicians distract people by making them believe they are being taken advantage of by people who don't look/act/think like them. And right now we have a lot of unscrupulous politicians.

Human nature - people don't seem to change much from generation to generation which it comes down to it. Too large a percentage of politicians have been "bums" since biblical times and nothing much has changed except perhaps the percentages have gone up. Like Bruce's comment. We must take our country back.

An Assyrian tablet dating to 2880 BC was recently unearthed bearing these words: Our earth is degenerate in these latter days. There are signs that the world is speedily coming to an end. Bribery, war and corruption are common.

Ecclesiastes 1:9-The Bible- What has been will be again; what has been done will be done again- there is nothing new under the sun.

Everything goes round in a circle.... maybe we could match up what's happening now with when it happened before in the past, and see what happened next..... Interesting article Fran- Always- Ella

Now, with gays in the military,"I've got your back!", has new meaning...

It's the Old Testament that bigots use as their missing link to God, to besmirch gays.

Stereotypes need to go and we need to see an individual as just that - an individual....doesn't happen much though does it?

I find this world bickering over regilions a repeat of histories past. Why cant we just live, you know live. Does anyone remember simple living without political and religious nonsense.

I have no god,,,and you know because of that I see many things on this world, i see things in nature and I see things in us.

I have no religion therefore Im free, spiritually free and feeling good for I believe in myself and never toss my freewill to the dogs of dogma nor do I toss my beliefs to some system of religious control. I never let any system control who i am.

Who cares honestly,,,when our worlds becoming infected with garbage, debris, bacteria and disease. We should clean up the filth we live instead of bickering over stupid religion and some god that doesnt even exist.

They talk about aliens from other worlds yet they never talk about loving beings from other worlds as if they dont believe in them.

Well, I've experienced on many worlds my friends and this world takes the cake for complete imbalance along with ridiculous beliefs in religions which by the way dont exist anywhere I have been and money which is just control. Never ever have I lived in such a mess.
