The Real Truth About Lying: How Does It Affect You When Others Lie To You? Quotes About Lying

If you read my latest article, /swa754870-Miss-X-And-The-Tea-Room-Bullying-Under-The-Disguise-Of-Christianity-Duped-Again.htm, then you know that lying comes unexpectedly from some, who at first glance seem to be moral. However, some people lie so very casually and they are able to present themselves in a neat package that will likely fall apart.

I wonder why people lie? Is it that they feel desperate? Do they not know that eventually they will be found out? Do they feel inferior to others? Since I wrote about Ms X, I have been asking myself these questions. I really don’t know the answer. I would like to hear your opinion on this.

However, here are a few quotes about lying that you and I both could ponder:

All men must acknowledge Lying to be one of the most scandalous sins, that can be committed between man and man; a crime of a deep dye, and of an extensive nature, leading into innumerable sins; for Lying is practiced to deceive, to injure, betray, rob, destroy, and the like; Lying in this sense is the concealing of all other crimes, the sheep's clothing upon the wolf's back, the Pharisee's prayer, the harlot's blush, the hypocrite's paint, and Judas's kiss; in a word, it is mankind's darling sin, and the Devil's distinguished characteristic.

WELLINS CALCOTT, Thoughts Moral and Divine

Glorify a lie, legalize a lie, arm and equip a lie, consecrate a lie with solemn forms and awful penalties, and after all it is nothing but a lie. It rots a land and corrupts a people like any other lie, and by and by the white light of God's truth shines clear through it, and shows it to be a lie.

E. H. CHAPIN, Living Words

Falsehood is often rocked by truth, but she soon outgrows her cradle and discards her nurse.

CHARLES CALEB COLTON, Laco

Lies are a little fortress; inside them you can feel safe and powerful. Through your little fortress of lies you try to run your life and manipulate others. But the fortress needs walls, so you build some. These are the justifications for your lies. You know, like you are doing this to protect someone you love, to keep them from feeling pain. Whatever works, just so you feel okay about the lies.

WM. PAUL YOUNG, The Shack

Lies were like acid, corrosive: They could dissolve trust in a heartbeat.

ROB THURMAN, Nightlife

There is no vice that doth so cover a man with shame as to be found false and perfidious.

FRANCIS BACON, Essays

Falsehood is often rocked by truth, but she soon outgrows her cradle and discards her nurse.

CHARLES CALEB COLTON, Lacon

The perjurer's mother told white lies.

AUSTIN O'MALLEY, Keystones of Though

Lies don't fix things. They don't even make things easier, at least not in the long run. Best to tell the truth and then clean up an honest mess.

P.C. CAST & KRISTIN CAST, Chosen

For the wretched conceit of a liar, in supposing himself clever enough to invent stories so ingenious that they shall, for any time, impose on people for the truth, and the still grosser folly in imagining, as he must do, that the world will, without investigation and analysis, take for granted anything he chooses to assert--that world more shrewd, more cunning, and as prying as himself--what a conceited ass must the liar be! How superior over others in cunning must he not believe himself! What fools must he not suppose the rest of mankind!

CHARLES WILLIAM DAY, The Maxims, Experiences, and Observations of Agogo

Do you have a lying story you would like to share? I would love to hear from you.

If you would like to hear the lie that was told about me, I would love to share it. It devistated me while being so fresh still, I am dealing with it thru Christ as this is the only way I can or know how.

The lies cost me my business here in Newman Grove, NE. I have been praying for this community for months now. The midwest is a different bread of folks. They do not like change or to be challenged in any shape or form. I was boycotted by lies that multiplied like wild fires with no questions asked as I was an outsider from here. After 3 years of having the business that I believed that was blessed by God, I had to sell, only with Gods hand on it. I lost finacially but gained my faith which I would never change, but the lies still continue with a vengance on my life and my families. So fresh, so new and so painfull for one woman to bare. I want my heart to heal, my family daughters and husband to heal and to be vindicated by God on these lies. I could write a book on how so called Christians did what they did to us, and still say Lord Lord and smile with the lies that pour out of their mouths about me. What do you do, what do you say , where do you go? All I know how to do is pray, seek Gods Kingdom and wait. Your article intreged me so I wrote.

I think you and I are alike in that we thought most anyone who calls themselves a Christian really is. On one hand, God tells us not to judge others, be he also says, "ye shall know them by their works." All I know for sure is that like you, I have been duped many times by people who called themselves Christians. I don't know if I just have the kind of personality that people think they could walk over or if these people are just talking the talk and not walking the walk.

I know how you feel. It is one thing to be duped by the outside world, but to be treated by your own religious community, is just awful. It has happened to be on more than one occasion. In fact, if a "christian" offers me a job, I will not take it! Here is one of my experiences: http://fran-larson.wrytestuff.com/swa754870-Ms-X-And-The-Tea-Room-Bullying-Under-The-Disguise-Of-Christianity-Duped-Again.htm/

All I can tell you is that your God and your faith is real and I guess the rest we won't understand while we're on this earth. I have a few questions for God when I get there. I hope I am not sounding too high and mighty. I don't mean to.

Maybe someday I will write a book on this topic as it is for sure a crushing experience. God bless you and I hope you will follow me and read more of my articles. I am branching out more and writing for Faithwriters.com.

The best to you and thank you for reading my article.
