Do you have a dream that is not being fulfilled? You have tried everything you know. You have tried working hard, praying, good karma, and working even harder. You can’t seem to get the dream out of your mind and yet you can’t make it come true, either. Maybe it is a tease; one moment, you feel you are going forward in your dreams and the next moment, you are going backward. Is the Universe and God just against you?
I find myself in this predicament, so maybe together we could figure it out. The last few years, I have been obsessed with being a successful writer. Though I have written a book, for the life of me, I cannot find the right market for it. It isn’t that the book is being rejected, it is that I cannot find the “publisher” that would be a good fit?
Should I consider all the time and effort in writing that book as a waste of time or a bad joke?
If you have followed any of my articles, you know I love quotes. In fact, I am creating a new web site that will house my most favorite quotes. I did some research and came up with these quotes about dreams and disappointments:
"We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope."
-Martin Luther King, Jr
"Live your life each day as you would climb a mountain. An occasional glance toward the summit keeps the goal in mind, but many beautiful scenes are to be observed from each new vantage point. " - Harold V. Melchert
"Do not think of a painful experience as a dark time in your life. You emerge out of everything learning something or becoming a better person. You realize who your real friends are and how much your loved ones mean to you. " Colleen Ho
"That it will never come again Is what makes life so sweet."
- Emily Dickinson
"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; But often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us."
- Helen Keller
"If you are going through hell, keep going."
- Winston Churchill
"Everything happens for a reason, people change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so you can appreciate them when they're right, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can come together."
- Marilyn Monroe
Reflect upon your present blessings of which every man has many - not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some. – Charles Dickens
"The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers."- Author Unknown
"Failure is only the opportunity to begin again, this time more wisely." –Author Unknown
Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat. - Teddy Roosevelt
I leave you with this quote, meanwhile I will just keep writing but will not put “all my eggs in one basket”:
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
-Mark Twain
