Live In The Present: Have Peace Of Mind & Enjoy The Moment.

If you are one of my readers, you know I absolutely love quotes, so I am beginning with one of my favorite quotes by Natalie Portman (Novalee Nation) in Where The Heart Is:

" You tell them that our lives can change with every breath we take... and to hold on like hell to what they've got.”

When I think about that quote, it is so powerful and has so much meaning.”Our lives change with every breath we take.” That means that every breath we take is a new reality; a new challenge; a new birth. I am convinced that is why we have such a difficult time living in the present. Life changes so quickly with every breath. It could be a death, a divorce, a job change, different location or something as small as a family member who is leaving after a few days of visiting (that is a small grief experience).

One of the most difficult things in life is to live life in the present; enjoying or in some moments, just living it and being there fully. How many times have you tried to talk with someone and you knew they were not listening. They were in another moment. Either they were thinking of something that has already passed or something that may or may not happen in the future. They were not with you; they were not 100% aware of the present moment.

Someone once said: “Today is a gift and than is why we only have the present.

How many times have you drove from home to your place where you are employed each day and can’t remember anything about those moments. Maybe you were thinking about something you needed to do at work or something that you have already done at home. You missed the moments of driving to work and cannot get them back. It is so difficult to stay in the present and yet if we did, our lives would be so much more joyful and we would have more peace of mind.

I am preaching to myself as well. However, this morning, with my candles burning, my two pets in my lap, I thought to myself, “how could life be any better?” It was a golden moment. It was not wishing for more “things” or thinking “what if?” It was just basking and savoring in that golden moment of the present.

Quotes That Will Help You Live In The Moment

Here are some words directly from God that will aid us in living in the moment and not worrying about the future or the past.

Matthew 6:25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?

Matthew 6:27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

Luke 12:22 Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.

Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Yvonne, Thanks for stopping by and reading my article.  I have to remind myself to live in the present all the time.  It doesn't come easy, but I am learning.  I hope you will stop by again sometimes and read another article I have written.  The best to you.  Fran Larson
