OK, honestly I opened up my little net book to write a sincere plea for everyone to hold their fire and don’t hurt Casey Anthony, but then I scan the headlines only to find she is appealing the felonies (lies told to authorities) that she was charged with. I know I am a very naive individual, but I do not understand how one could appeal something that she has already admitted. I saw her the day she stood up between her two attorneys and apologized to Ms Gonzalez.

Oh, did I mention, she is still indogent? That means, of course that the taxpayers will be footing the bill.

I have come to the conclusion (probably rather late in life) that law and legal does not mean truth and honesty.

I know this question will probably be laughed at but whatever happened to an old fashioned conscience – you know, that feeling down deep when you know you have/are doing something that is not right? Is it even in our vocabulary anymore?

Sometimes I wish I didn’t have a conscience or/and not a worry in the world. I am way too sensitive. My mother used to tell me that I wore my feelings on my shoulder. I suppose she was right.

For instance, it really bothers me that Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez are getting a divorce. Right away, I begin to worry about the 3-year old twins and I could visualize in my mind the kids being shuffled back and forth, tears, broken home, etc. I don’t even know Jennifer Lopez or Marc Anthony, but I worry and I think it is really sad.

Since the story of little Caylee Anthony has come to the forefront, it has come to my attention, through the media, that child-killing is not that uncommon.

“I’d say a mother kills a child in this country once every three days, and that’s a low estimate,” says Cheryl Meyer, co-author of “Mothers Who Kill Their Children.”

This fact makes my stomach queasy and saddens me. How could this happen in our country? How could we help? Children are so innocent.

The National Child Statistics reveal that:

· A report of child abuse is made every ten seconds.

· Almost five children die every day as a result of child abuse. More than three out of four are under the age of 4.

· It is estimated that between 60-85% of child fatalities due to maltreatment are not recorded as such on death certificates .

Maybe I have done enough worrying for one day. I will take a shower, get dressed and put my best smile on for “friends night” tonight. It’s not that easy for me, though, as I tend to carry everything on my shoulders.

I really do hope and pray that Casey Anthony will be safe in her re-entry into society. “Two wrongs don't make a right. Besides, that would give me something else to worry about.

She'll be safe. I'm not so sure she'll be able to live with herself for very long though. When the booze doesn't numb and hiding your head in diversions doesn't work anymore reality can really kick you in the butt.
