Love Can Happen To Anybody, Anytime, Is Liberating & Banishes Fear Says Maya Angelou: Feb-Love Month

As I watched Maya Angelou give an inspiring lecture on a new television program, All Star, OWN Network, I became mesmerized by her powerful words. She spoke about the power of words, racism, hardships and love. Each subject is so special and each deserves an article of it's very own that is unique. Since it is February, the love month, I would like to zoom in on that subject.

There are kinds of love, yet there is really only one kind of love. (That’s my quote).

I think at times I forget “Love is Liberating.” Is that the reason we can kiss our children, wish them well, as they move far away, while our heart is breaking? Is that why we can sometimes let go of a love affair or a person because it is best for them? Is that why, when our children go across the sea to fight for our country that we can let go? Does “love is liberating” mean that we can love others in spite of huge differences and hurts?

“Love is like a virus and can happen anytime, anywhere” is another of Ms Angelou’s quotes. How exciting and thrilling is this to know love will find us. Be ready. Be aware. Maya reminds us “we recognize no barriers It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at it destination full of hope.”

Another love quote from Ms Angelou is “If we are bold, love strikes away the chains of fear from our souls.” As I was thinking about this quote, I wondered: Is that why young men and women go to war? Is that why some donate their kidneys to a friend or family member?

Love Quotes and Poem By Maya Angelou

We, unaccustomed to courage exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love costs all we are and will ever be.
Yet it is only love, which sets us free.
A Brave and Startling Truth.

My great hope is to laugh as much as I cry; to get my work done and try to love somebody and have the courage to accept the love in return

If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded.
It is the honorary duty of a human being to love

If we lose love and self respect for each other, this is how we finally die.

This is so amazing Fran. Love certainly is liberating when it is selfless and not based on attachment and selfish desire to possess somebody. The selfless love is possible only when we know that our true nature itself is love. When we are abundant in love, then we give and don't think of receiving it back and we don't get hurt if it doesn't come back to us. This is why love is liberating. Thank you for sharing the beautiful poem. Very nice.

This was beautiful Fran. Funny how love can cause you to feel on top of the world but can also cause so much pain. Love is worth the hurdles though. Great article.
