How To Host A Last-Minute Super Bowl Party That's Easy By Using My Fast & Easy Chili Recipe

I have hosted several Super Bowl parties that have been not only fun, but easy…..very, very easy.

I usually make my homemade chili. When I invite my guests, I ask them to bring something that goes with Chili. Some of the things I may suggest would be: Salads, Fruit Salads, Desserts, Appetizers, Wine, Beer, Crackers (for the chili). People are usually happy to bring something. In fact, I think it makes them feel better to contribute to the dinner.

As you can see, when everyone brings something, all you need to do is to make the chili. It is so easy. You could make it the day before, and it will be ever better because the flavorings mingle together. Here is my sure-fire, delicious chili recipe:

Frannie's Awesome Chili

1-2 onions

2 Tbls. Worcestershire sauce

1 lb. lean ground beef

1 can tomatoes

1 can tomato soup

1 can kidney beans

1 can black beans

2 Tbls. flour

1 cup water

chili powder, to taste

salt and pepper

Sauté ground beef with onions. Drain grease off meat, then add Worcestershire sauce; let simmer for about 2 minutes. Add canned tomatoes, tomato soup and beans.

Make a paste of flour, 1-cup water and chili powder. I only use 2-3 tablespoons because our family likes the chili mild. Add salt and pepper to taste.

The longer you let it simmer, the better it is. Cook at least one hour. Tastes even better the second day. I usually at least double the recipe and put some of it up in the freezer.

You Are Almost Ready, Just a Couple More Things To Do

I choose to go buffet style. The chili is simmering and everything else put out on the counter. Here are some tips that will save last-minute jitters:

  1. Put plenty of ice in an ice bucket so that you won’t be trying to retrieve ice while someone is waiting
  2. Get a big tub (mine is red-it goes with my kitchen). and fill with ice. You can put beer and soft drinks in the tub and let people help themselves.
  3. Decide where everyone is sitting. At my house usually the women ended up sitting at the table and the men in the living room.
  4. Do not make your guests feel uncomfortable because you are working so hard. Let them help. Last minute things will come up for example, maybe cutting a pie or putting ice in the glasses. Again, they will feel more comfortable if you like them help.
Have Fun! smiley

Sounds fantastic Fran. Maybe not Super Bowl Sunday because I will be busy that day (today), but I will surely try this recipe in the not too distant future. Thanks for sharing it with us, and have a wonderful party. You deserve a nice a break.

Hmm.. any suggestions for a vegetarian? :-) I would love the beer part though even if I can't eat beef. Maybe I will try your recipe with some tofu. :-)
