What Is The Difference Between Men And Boys? Is It The Price Of Their Toys? Is Your Guy A Techi-Man?

It began with Jill. My husband, Jim was in love with her. He adored her and did everything she suggested. All he talked about was Jill. Everywhere we went, he would be so excited if Jill came along. He was under the impression (much to my dismay) that Jill was somehow smarter than me.

Once I had a job interview in Tampa. I really am very nervous about driving in Tampa because I have had a bad experience with one-way streets there and also I-4 is known as malfunction junction. For me, it was like taking my life into my own hands. However, I put on my best “interview” suit and was ready to brave the trip.

Jim said, “Don’t worry, I am sending Jill with you. I know you will be safe. She knows the way. I feel so good sending you with Jill. I won’t have to worry at all."

As I opened the car door, I gave him a smirky, jealous look.

I hate to say Jim was right but he really was. I didn’t accidentally turn off on a one-way street, I-4 didn’t finish we off and I got there on time. I went straight there! Jill took me right to the doorstep. Jim was right. Jill was not only a good companion and friend; she was beginning to be a family member. I could tell she was going to always be with us.

As time went on, Jill became part of the family. She went with us everywhere. I gradually began to accept her and tried not to be jealous because Jim thought so highly of her.

Then one day my son-in-law called from West Palm Beach and asked a very strange question:

“Jim, I have a friend I would like for you to meet. Her name is Caaren. She is from Australia and has a really sexy accent. Would you be interested?”

”Is that OK with you, honey?”

How could I say “no.”? These friends seemed to make him happy. He had such a smile on his face.

Caaren arrived and then you will never guess what happened. He liked Caaren so much that he introduced Jill to another family member. I hope you don’t think we are too dysfunctional. He just wanted to share.

Caaren does indeed have an Australian accent that is quite sexy. Jim listens to her and does everything she tells him to do. If we are in the car and I tell him how to get to our destination, he ignores me and waits for Caaren to tell him. Some of the roads she doesn’t even pronounce correctly. She always warns Jim in her sexy voice “traffic ahead” or “road closed.”

Yes, Jim does love his Garmin GPS. It even shows a car traveling with a Christmas Tree on top. Or if you are bored, it will show a golf cart traveling. It tells you what the speed limits are and your estimated time of arrival. You could plan out a whole vacation by going to map quest and program it into your Garmin.

Ok¸ from there, Jim stated that he needed a new Golf GPS, as his other one was outdated and by the time he updated it via the internet, he could almost buy a new one. So, what could I say? I would not want him to miss a shot on the golf course due to my selfishness.

As of Christmas, Jim is the proud owner of an I-Pod. As I am writing this, he is playing some kind of game. The good news is that now he likes to go to the grocery story because he can make the list on his I-Pod. As you probably know, there are many applications and some are even free. The UPS man is getting to know us well.

We went shopping today and this time, I put my foot down. Jim wanted to buy a wireless printer for my new netbook. He said by the time we would buy new ink refills for our two computers, we could probably buy a wireless printer…did I tell you he loves to order things from Amazon?

The following poem came to mind:

The only difference between

Men and Boys

Is the price

Of their toys.

LOL Fran! At our house it's "Susan", cuz she's a smart girl. The difference is Susan lives in MY Android phone but I love her. She has saved us many a marital spat over which direction is shorter, better, faster, easier, etc. I say, "Let's ask Susan, she'll know" and she does!

Those things are wonderful all right- did you ever notice how we are depending more and more everyday on electronic machines to do all of our thinking for us? One might wonder, as this becomes more the everyday mode of life for humans- what will we be using our minds to think about, now that we don't have to think about all the mundane physical problems of everyday living.....could it be that in the future,of which we are now beginning to see a whisper- our minds will be used more and more to study and ponder the condition and growth of our spiritual selves? We can see that developing even now, as our minds are turning more toward our inner selves and and spiritual health- more than at any time in history. This article brings forth heretofore scantily explored regions of thought. Thank you Fran- Always- Ella

This is so cool Fran. You just explained how romantic men can get with gadgets. :-) Just like David said, even I suspected Jill to be a dog initially. But you opened up the suspense very nicely. Way too cool!

A very interesting article. I first thought you were referring to a pet named Jill and then later on i got it figured out. It was quite obvious that you did not mean another human female. You would have loaded it with hate and tears...I think. I enjoyed it nonetheless.
