Some are making it home for Christmas this year. They have waited so long to see family members and friends, that the anticipation seems almost unbearable. The expectation sends tingling from the top of the head down to the toes. The heart has longed for this homecoming and ached to see certain people.

Preparations have been made for this journey. What to say when we see these unforgotten friends and family is being rehearsed.

The day finally comes – the day for which the heart has waited. The last minutes before leaving are filled with such emotion. It is bittersweet to leave a home of comfort and surroundings that have been enjoyed. Yet, the longing we have to see family and friends trumps being uncomfortable in leaving familiar surroundings.

Some didn’t make it home for Christmas this year but someday they will be able to take that journey.

For those who made it home this year, many surprises and joyful experiences await. The twinkling bright lights in vivid colors will be more beautiful than can ever be imagined. The beauty that welcomes will be indescribable.

I have friends and family who made it home for Christmas this year. I will miss them terribly, but I know they are home for good. I know they are so peaceful that they will have no desire to return.

"Death is not the end, it is simply walking out of the physical form and into the spirit realm, which is our true home. It's going back home." - Stephen Christopher

It is just a moment in time that we go through, experience and move on. Christmas will also soon be a past memory. :-) Nice thoughts expressed Fran. Thank you.

So true Fran. Some day maybe we can all put our petty differences aside and be one big happy family who forgives and forgets because they are our brothers and sisters. Until then it is wonderful that we do have family to experience this acceptance. Nice article.

Hi Fran, a beautiful piece you have here.

I do miss my family members and friends that have gone but really, I am far from taking that journey yet.

I still have a lot to do. I desire to complete them all before going. Until then, I am not considering that trip at all.

Merry Xmas!

That's a beautiful way of putting it, Fran. I was looking at a photo of my father last night, feeling so bereft. What you've said here has brought me solace, thanks.
