Free, An Endless Journey Just For The Asking: Not A Scam, But Filled With Surprises

I recently took a trip that was so delightful. It was filled with new experiences, new scenery and different weather patterns that I was not accustomed to. Perhaps it was the newness and uniqueness that caused me to think of it as a "journey," instead of a trip. (A journey has an element of the unknown; a kind of mysticism, whereas a trip is going from one geographical place to another).
Another way of saying this is: There's a difference between keeping busy with seeing sights and taking pictures, and actually being present with what you are experiencing. Although each requires form and purpose, travel gives a focus to the doing-ness, while journey is balanced with actual being-ness. Journey goes beyond the restraints of physical time and space. Journey feeds the soul. (Excerpt from Journey: A Cycle of Sacred Timeby Jan Boddie, Ph.D. & Marystella Church, B.A.)
The renewing of my spirit and energy from this trip will have lasting effects. The results of my recent trip will definitely enhance my journey (feeding my soul).
The nice part about a journey is that it goes on and on throughout eternity. It is endless. You don't even have to fasten your seat belt. You can just "be" and relax. We can all prepare ourselves for a more fulfilling and exciting journey by opening up our mind and hearts for truth and new ideas. Think of a journey as if it were a movie. You are in the movie but you don't have to memorize a script. You don't really know what is going to happen next because the producers have not told you the script ahead of time. They want it to be spontaneous and may have some surprises along the way. They want to capture your facial expressions and body reactions when you experience serendipity (the accidental discovery of something pleasant, valuable, or useful).
Wouldn't it be more fun anyway, if you didn't know your "script for life"? Think about it. What if you decided to give all your control and destiny to God and the universe? What if you just stepped aside and allowed new thoughts to replace some worn out recording that plays over and over in your mind? What if you accidentally learned that you are empowered to do what you were meant to do on this journey? What if, by letting go of control, you had a gift or opportunity come your way before you could even utter a prayer of what you desired? It could happen. It happened to me. Just by "letting go of control" and "being," I was hit with something I have dreamed about before I could even utter it in the form of prayer.
The more I stop trying to force things to happen, the more they just seem to sort themselves out. The more I let things happen, the less time I spend trying to make them happen (from http://www.illuminatedmind.net).

Another wonderful article. I'm a little in awe of how your writing has evolved. These are excellent thoughts to live by. Keep 'em coming. :)
Good article Fran- it demonstrates how your spirit is evolving and growing- I know just what you mean about the letting go thing - I went through it a few years ago- you are absolutely right!- Happy you enjoyed your trip..... or journey- as I did mine- I think we learn how to better appreciate life as we get older- we're finally getting the hang of it!-Thanks- and best of luck on your venture- whatever it may be.- Always- Ella
Great read Fran. Your journey is beautiful. A series of trips, each one expanding on another that lead to a place where only moments before you never dreamed existed. It's when people get caught in the conclusion that any certain trip is the ultimate trip, and that there can be no others to compare, that the journey ends, and the end of growth begins. I hope your journey lasts forever.
