Why It Is Fun To Be Unique & Set Your Own Style: Be A Trendsetter & Wear A Dress

My new motto is "Be a Trendsetter." One day it just popped into my mind and I hear myself say it to others.
It all started a few weeks ago. I was so tired to wearing either Capri's or shorts to all of our community activities. (I live in a very social community.) I forgot what I looked like in a dress and longed to feel more feminine. I also wanted to be unique because absolutely no one in my circle of friends ever wore a dress anymore.
As time went on, though, I received many compliments about my casual, cute dresses.
I felt so good in this new dress, I went shopping and found 2 more dresses. I didn't really care what other people wanted to wear; I just knew that for me, I needed to wear a dress at least part of the time to feel feminine and unique.
A couple of weeks later, I went to a wine and cheese party. I noticed two of the women besides myself had on really cute sundresses. I smiled. A trend was beginning. Sometimes I get a telephone call, "Are you wearing a dress today?"
I have to say that America has pretty much laid the dress to rest. I went into Christopher Banks last week and when I asked where the dresses are they said they would no longer have them in the store? I wonder if Hilary Clinton had something to do with this, as she is always seen in a pantsuit. This seems to be happening more and more. Is this a wave of the future? Maybe soon, no one will even remember what a dress looks like.
I have decided that if the dress is one day extinct, I will begin a new trend and introduce the dress.
Michelle Rodriquez said: Whenever a female takes a strong stand for herself, the majority of the time they have to really, really narrow it down to being feminine and wearing dresses and just being lipstick chic.

More commentsMy mother always wore dresses, I believe the style should come backgood article Fran
Back in the 1950s dresses were all there really was to choose from, its great having a choice of so many clothes today but I love dresses too!
You have a nice speaking voice. Speaking as a man I always enjoy the sight of a woman in a dress.
Wow bow Fran, I am totally taken aback by your gentle sweet voice. Great, for a starter. Please read more soon. I would love to hear your reading it out the article you wrote. This is a cute feminine article I enjoyed. Thanks, Hilda. I needed someone (like you) for encouragement. You never let me down and are always so supportive. Yes, I will do more voice articles. I have some children stories that I wrote and maybe will submit as audio. The best to you, always....Fran
Cute article Fran, I mean really cute. ;-) Sure hope your wrong about them becoming a thing of the past, but shorts are nice and becoming and give you girl's a freedom of movement you can't quite enjoy in a dress. Really just wanted to catch this for your audio version, cuz of the dress thing didn't think it would be geared towards guys, but I'm glad I did. Nice article.
You are a trendy kinda gal! I'll share a quick story with you - Back when I was President of The CT Horse Council, I attended many meetings and went to the "Hill" to testify and stuff. I also held down my full time job at which I almost always wore dresses or suits with (I might say) panty hose. At these meetings, our paid consultants had one lovely young lady that always wore a hat. Each of her designer outfits was matched with a stylish hat. She commanded attention, let me tell you. In a relatively short time several women legislatures of our state began wearing hats, only they couldn't pull it off quite like SM could. This lady takes the Oscar for class and style. So you just may be onto something big, Fran. You go girl!
Nice article. I love dresses on women. They look stunning. My girlfriend loves skirts and dresses. I tell her how wonderful she looks in it.
Why not? Change can sometimes be fun and to see others picking up on it? Best thing they say that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.
I dislike your type of thinking only when it leads to the unnecessary. Yes, wearing dresses and different outfits is just fine, but when it leads to inappropriate clothing or being different just for the sake of being different, I feel that it becomes problematic.
Great article Francine, even though I don't wear dresses I still enjoyed reading it!
