Tomorrow is the final airing for America's Got Talent, 2010. I am betting that the headlines will reveal little Jackie Evancho as a winner. If she wins, she will receive one million dollars. Her operatic performance has been so extraordinary that she was accused of "faking it" or "lip syncing." Howie Mandell asked her to spontaneously sing something to prove that the rumors were not true. Oh course Jackie sang a few notes and the rumors were put to rest.
Evancho was born to Michael and Lisa Evancho and has an older brother, Jacob, a younger brother, Zachary, and a younger sister, Rachel.[4] She started singing when she was seven years old, after going to see the stage show Phantom of the Opera on DVD. Her mother heard Evancho singing songs from the movie and allowed her to enter a local talent contest. She finished as the runner-up and was voted the audience favorite. Eventually she participated in other talent contests and started a YouTube channel. Jackie began taking vocal lessons in June of 2008, when she was 8 years old. She was also a member of the Children's Festival Chorus of Pittsburgh during its 2008-09 season (Wikipedia.com)
Jackie is not only talented, but she seems to respond very well to interviews (for a ten-year old) :
"I have two brothers and one sister, a big garden and we have ducks in it. It's so much fun!" beamed Evancho, who started singing after seeing "Phantom of the Opera." According to Babble.com, she has already released a self-produced album called ‘Prelude to a Dream.'"
This powerful little girl is so confidant that she has declared what she will do if she wins the $1 million dollars. "I want to use it to buy a pony. . .and help baby seals." She said that it was very surprising to have made it this far. Jackie also stated that she thinks it was just amazing to be on the show even once. Also, if she didn't make it on the first round, she wouldn't be upset because she had that little taste of excitement and fame.
Other Contestants
The colorful Prince Poppycock dresses wild and also has a good voice. His last performance included waving and flag and dancing while wearing, red, white and blue. I guess you could say he is a male version of Lady Ga Ga. Personally, I don't get it (dressing up, white make-up, etc) but I guess everybody has different tastes.
I think the toughest competition is Fighting Gravity, a variety act. However, last week they were told it was not their best performance. They were warned that their choreography had to be absolutely perfect for the finals.
Michael Grimm, also a runner-up is said to have a voice of experience and pain, even though he is very young. Apparently, the judges recognized he sings from his heart. Perhaps he will be a favorite with teen girls.
Jackie, You Are A Winner In My Book
Jackie is a winner in my book. I love her angelic voice. I think she has handled herself quite well since she began this journey. Apparently, her parents do a good job of keeping her grounded. Imagine a 10-year old going through something so stressful and yet she smiles. When Jackie begins to sing, my heart melts and I am very sure she should be the winner.
If you have never heard Jackie sing, I invite you to enjoy this wonderful experience. Just click onhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx07O0GodwI & feature=related

Top-level comments on this article: (4 total)I listened to Jackie, Fran, thanks for providing the link. What an incredible singer! She a natural star, it's clear she has a fantastic career ahead of her, regardless of whether she wins this competition or not. Often when I watch child prodigies there's an element of posturing which makes me think they've been pushed onto the stage too early. But this child is completely at home. I loved watching her.
I am mesmerized every time I see this child and no I don't think her parents forced her to do this either. As Jennifer says she is a natural, she absolutely loves to sing. I too would put my money on her Fran. I'll have to record it so I don't forget.
I've never seen this show, but WOW! That girl has such an immense talent. Thanks for sharing it with us.Grace
Thanks for sharing...I never watch this show though. She is good. I clicked the link and heard her on youtube.Regards, CP
