Tomorrow is the big day Chelsea's wedding day. Neither President Obama nor I were invited and it will not be televised, so I will just have to imagine how it will be.
For starters, it is supposed to be the biggest wedding of the year, according to Donnie Brown, a wedding planner featured in "Whose Wedding Is it Anyway?" on the Style Network. This will definitely be the biggest wedding of the year." At the more conservative cost of $3 million, that's a half-million behind Liza Minnelli and David Gest and a cool $1 million ahead of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. But this is different from your garden-variety superstar wedding, experts concur. This union includes world leaders and, well, Oprah.
I can only imagine how food will be a gourmet smorgasbord served in the most elegant way and champagne will be flowing like a volcano. (If the invitations cost $150.00 each, as rumored, I can only imagine what delicacies will be served. Perhaps favors will be given to guests that will definitely be an expensive keepsake.
Lets don't be too hard on Chelsea for having such a "showy" wedding. At least it isn't going to be televised. I suppose it is the dream of many girls to have a posh wedding that will make the headlines of the New York Times, no less.
What About The Groom?
We are all curious about the groom. What is his background? Where did Chelsea meet him?
Marc Mezvinsky, 31 is Jewish (Chelsea is Methodist) He grew up in a 15-room home in Philadelphia's tony Main Line neighborhood in a blended family of 11 children, stepchildren and adopted children of the Mezvinskys, according to the Inquirer.
Clinton and Mezvinsky were childhood friends in Washington and attended Stanford University but didn't start dating until 2005.
Marc Mezvinsky is the son of two former members of Congress. His mother, Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky (D-Pa.), served one term (1992-1994) and his father, Edward M. Mezvinsky (D-Iowa), served two (1973-1977.) Ed Mezvinsky pleaded guilty in 2002 to swindling dozens of investors out of $10 million and served five years in prison. He was released in April 2008, but remains on federal probation and still owes almost $9.4 million in restitution to his victims. Neither the Clintons nor Marjorie, from whom he is now divorced, would comment on whether Ed Mezvinsky will attend his son's wedding, according to ABC.
What Does Bill Have To Do Before The Wedding?
Besides footing the bill for this occasion, Chelsea told her father a few months ago that she wanted him to look good for the wedding. "She doesn't think I'm in shape. You know she told me the other day she said, 'Dad the only thing you gotta do is walk me down the aisle and you gotta look good.' So I said, 'Well, what's your definition?' And she said, 'Oh, about 15 pounds.' So I'm about halfway home."
Hopefully, by now, Bill has shed the pounds and is all ready to walk down the aisle with his only daughter.
Bill will also be writing a check for $15,000, just so wedding guests can use portable latrines that have actual porcelain toilets that flush, stereo music and hot running water -- oh yeah, and they're HUGE, according to TMZ.
Of course the obvious and most important thing Bill has to do on Chelsea's big day is walk his daughter down the aisle. He seemed somewhat apprehensive: "I just hope I can keep it together [until] I walk her down the aisle and do the handoff," Clinton said. "Like your dad was telling me when he did it with you, you know it proves you've done what you were supposed to do, but it doesn't make it entirely easy."

Amazing! I would have to be more than filthy rich before I'd have a shindig as wasteful as some of these weddings. However. that's because I've never been filthy rich. have never been overly indulged, don't think the world revolves around me or anything, etc etc. I cannot even fathom having so much money that I could do anything ridiculously lavish. So I can't judge. I say, if you've got it, flaunt it. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone, what you do with your money is your own business. Just don't ask us to bail you out. E V E R!
