Can Richard Branson just be fighting boredom or is he seeking fame, celebrity and perhaps a reality show? He revealed that he plans to celebrate his 60 th birthday by kite surfing from England to France in the English Channel. It isnt clear what exact date he has in mind, but it appears to be sometimes in August. He plans for his children and nephews to accompany him on this trip.
Richard Branson is the 261 st richest man in the world, according to Forbes Magazine. According to Forbes 2009 list, he is worth 3.9 billion dollars. This British industrialist is best known for his Virgin brand of over 360 companies.
Perhaps he is following the actions of Donald Trump, who has been quite successful on his television appearances and the last few years his television reality show, The Apprentice. In its October 7, 2007 Forbes 400 issue, " Acreage Aces, " Forbes valued Trumps wealth to $3.0 billion. Trump is known for his many properties. (Wikipedia.Com)
Apparently, this kite-surfing adventure will not be his first time for an adventure. At one time he attempted to travel around the world in a hot air balloon and also sailing the Atlantic Ocean.
Reality TV as we know it began back in 1992 when MTV first broadcast The Real World. It was an experimental show that took seven people from different backgrounds and placed them in a house to live together for several months and have their interactions filmed. It wasnt even known as reality TV back then, more so as a documentary. Today, reality TV programming has exploded. You can hardly turn on the television - to any channel - and not find a reality show.. (Reality-tv-online.com).
Well, guess we will have to just wait and see if this is just going to be a birthday to remember for Richard Branson or if he is getting on the bandwagon for a reality show.

That's perceptive, Fran. I wouldn't be surprised if Branson is heading in that direction. If he is I wonder if he'll come up with something original, or if it'll be the same old same old "let's see how much we can push people and punish them"!!
No matter the name of the celebrity. Human beings that think abundantly and wanting more out of life always succeed in the quest of riches; and I mean riches not only by the economics. Good he still has dreams, good he still has passion and good he wants to accomplish more. It doesn't matter if he's going to be or not a show for that, what matters is what drives his heart into such a task. I hope he succeeds.
Hi Fran,Lots of good info in your article. The only thing that I disagree with is comparing Branson to Trump. Trump is a loud mouth real estate mogul with funny hair, Branson is creative in a lot of fields and very personable, hestarted with nothing, Trump started with his father's real estate empire.Thanks again for the article

I think he's heading for another reality bit. Seems like anybody that thinks he or she or they are anybody get reality shows these days. Branson has more money than the Treasury though and he needs to have his fun and fame and name out there, don't you think? We've got the power - if we don't like the bit, we just flip the channel. Actually, in my opinion, he's an interesting character. When you have that much money, what can you do with yourself to keep busy
