I didn't see Betty White perform on Saturday Night Live, but apparently she was very well accepted. The most amazing thing was that people on FaceBook demanded that she perform on Saturday Night Live and the Network listened. (In an interview, Betty quipped that she didn't even know anything about FaceBook but after she was introduced, she stated it was a waste of time.) Now FaceBook people are petitioning for her to do a celebrity award ceremony.
I began to daydream. What if FaceBook could bring the world to an understanding of each other? What if all those lols, hugs and farm games could bring nations to understand that we are all human and could be of the same mind (peace). What if we could look at each other's photos and wish each other happiness?
Facebook has been highly used in the years 2009-2010. It has crossed the visits of Google in some continents. And recently, Facebook.com was the top social network across eight of individual markets in the region, Philippines, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Vietnam, while other brands commanded the top positions in certain markets, including Google-owned Orkut in India, Mixi.jp in Japan, CyWorld in South Korea and Yahoo!'s Wretch.cc in Taiwan (Wikipedia).
After doing some research, I found several sites devoted to peace between countries. Why did I think I was the only one with this idea?
Here is one example: A joint project between Facebook and the Persuasive Technology Lab at Stanford University called peace.facebook.com is trying to bring together opposing sides in some of the most bitterly divided areas of the planet, encouraging online friendships between Jews and Muslims, US liberals and conservatives, and Turks and Greeks. (From .guardian.co.uk/technology/2009)
I know I am a Pollyanna type and also naive, but I am just daydreaming of peace someday
* "It may seem sometimes as if a culture of peace does not stand a chance against the culture of war, the culture of violence and the cultures of impunity and intolerance. Peace may indeed be a complex challenge, dependent on action in many fields and even a bit of luck from time to time. It may be a painfully slow process, and fragile and imperfect when it is achieved. But peace is in our hands. We can do it."

Peace is one thing we can never stop working towards or hoping for. Interesting article Fran.
I prefer Pollyanna and naive to cynical and bitter, Fran, and I think you add a lot of quality to the world.
Great article Fran, You are such an encourager of good in this world is not surprising that world peace would be one of your goals. Daily I try to remember to pray for our country's forgiveness, as His followers and for peace, and I know someday we shall have it according to God's will. God Bless you.
