Oh no! Please say it isn't true! I guess it is true. I just read the soap opera , As The world Turns will be canceled.
CBS has announced they're canceling the soap opera As the World Turns after a 54-year run.
Eileen Fulton, has played Lisa since the program began and has always been very convincing. The first few years she was not a very nice person. I remember her lying in bed eating chocolates while her mother-in-law took care of the baby. She was very conniving. In the last few years her character has evolved to be someone that others look up to and she is now a very decent person and also very rich. Lisa has also been married numerous times and this is probably why she has accumulated a small fortune.
Many times this program has taken away the boredom of folding laundry or snapping beans or some other boring chore that I was doing. In my opinion, it is not as good as it used to be. However, I realize I am an old-fashioned person. Years ago, it was about a family with three children; one was an attorney, another a doctor and their daughter Penny was a homemaker. The program took you into their family setting where they muddle through problems; some serious and some every day irritations but it seemed like a real family. Compare that to the program now, which is predominately the same theme every day, which includes infidelity, crime and triangle love affairs. Helen Wagner played the mistress of the household. She was always in the kitchen baking cookies or getting ready for dinner.
I am really sorry this program is canceling but I feel like it died long ago when it gave up the wonderful story line of a once considered normal family and resorted to just sex and crime and anything else that could bring ratings. For that reason, I guess I could give up As The World Turns.
