I was having one of those horrible days. You know what I mean. It was the kind of day when you think the whole world has gone crazy and it seems like there is so much evil and sadness in the world and to top it off, nothing you do seems to go right.
Then, Poof, I ran across this wonderful uplifting true story.
It is about Tim Tebow, quarterback for the Florida Gators. I admire him for standing up for his (and my) beliefs and telling the world. Tim always has a Bible Verse inserted in the black under his eyes. I remember seeing him on television a few weeks ago. I was watching the game with my 9 year old grandson and that night Tim was sporting John 3:16 on his eye black.
I replied: It is a Bible verse and it reads like this: For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish but shall have eternal life.
Because of Tim Tebow, I had the opportunity to talk to my grandson about the Bible. How wonderful. How many other parents, grandparents or friends have had that same opportunity because of Tim Tebow?
Thanks Tim for not only showing others what you believe but also opening doors for us to talk about Bible verses to others. I don't try to push my beliefs on others, but if the opportunity presents itself, I will be glad to talk.
In last week's game against Florida State, his eye black said "Heb 12 1-2." This week he has written "John 16:33," referencing a passage from the Gospel of John from the New Testament.
John 16:33 reads
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the worl d.
Thanks, Tim Tebow for making my day a whole lot brighter.

Top-level comments on this article: (2 total)The way in which he allows his father to use him to fill the coffers of his BUSINESS is despicable. If he really is such a Christian, how is it that his father and UF makes sure that every time he reads murderers a bedtime story in jail, or he performs unnecessary and religiously-influenced surgeries, that ESPN's cameras are there to record everything?Aren't Christians called by their own Gospels to perform charity with a pure heart, charity for charity's sake, not to call attention to their good works to improve their own lot in life?Isn't there something in 1 Tim that says something along the lines of not letting ourselves become "puffed-up" in our charitable works?Football Jesus is not stupid. That he allows himself to be used in the manner he is doing is either calculated on his part, thereby negating the goodwill his charity work gathers to him, or his passiveness adds more fuel to the fire that this is a guy who's not cut out to be the leader of a pro football team.
Hi Fran. Thanks for sharing this article. I am particularly interested in knowing him more because of his ministering and helping his father's orphanage in the Philippines. He was born in the Philippines, where I came from. I have written a piece about him, so when you have a chance you can check it out. Happy holidays to you and yours, ~Nenita~
