Before I give you Betty's delightful recipe. Let me tell you a little about her. Betty is my daughter's wonderful mother-in-law. When Betty goes to visit my daughter, she does not come for a rest. She is constantly doing something for my daughter and her family, such as putting together a photograph album, etc - all those things that a young working Mom doesn't have time to do.

Betty is a woman of strong faith who laughs and smiles easily. She loves to cook and can fruits and vegetables. She always has her pencil ready to copy a new recipe.

A couple of Christmases ago, I had my first Gumdrop cookie. I can assure you that it won't be my last. These gems melt in your mouth. Hope this recipe will lure you in the kitchen to make a double batch.

Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

Betty's Gumdrop Cookies

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup melted margarine

2 eggs, beaten

1 cup flour sifted with 1/4 tsp. baking powder

1/4 tsp. salt

1 tsp. vanilla

1 cup chopped gum drops

1 cup pecans, chopped

Mix in order given.

Bake in greased foil-lined pan at 350 degrees F. for 45 minutes.

Use a 9 inch square pan or if doubling the recipe, use a 9 x 13 inch pan.

Enjoy! Let me know if you liked them.
