My husband, Jim, who is an excellent golfer, posed this thoughtful question to me: "What is all this (accident, gossip, family problems) going to do to Tiger's golf game?"

I knew what Jim meant because over many conversations he has assured me that golf is a mind game. It is not just a question of how you grip the club, if your stance is correct or even using the right golf club. Although those things I have just mentioned are important, the most important of all is your mind. What makes me an expert, you are probably asking. The answer is I have heard enough golf stories to write a book or two from Jim. Good Golf all comes down to one thing; the state of your mind.

Will Tiger's golf be affected by everything that is going on in his life? Only time will tell.

Tiger will not be back playing professional golf for quite sometime. The following was on Tiger Woods official web site: Due to injuries sustained in a one-car accident last week, Tiger Woods will be unable to play in the 2009 Chevron World Challenge. "I am extremely disappointed that I will not be at my tournament this week," Woods said. "I am certain it will be an outstanding event and I'm very sorry that I can't be there."

The very fact that Tiger will be absent from the 2009 Chevron World challenge is one strike against him. It postpones the inevitable (facing his fans) and adds eve more stress and pressure to his next Golf challenge

Golfers try all kinds of things in order to keep focused on their golf game. Some of the suggested remedies are hypnosis and coaching from a sport psychologist. There are numerous books and web sites who claim to have the perfect answers for the golf mindset.

Golf requires an extreme amount of concentration and focus. I believe it is going to be very difficult for Tiger Woods to block out, marital problems, money stress (due to possibly paying people off), facing the fans and wondering about the future. All of these things combined could possibly affect his golf game in a negative way.

Bobby Jones said A leading difficulty with the average player is that he totally misunderstands what is meant by concentration. He may think he is concentrating hard when he is merely worrying.

Travis Casey said: Ask anyone who has every played golf and they will assure you that the game is as much mental as it is to do with physical.

Even though I do not condone Tiger's behavior, I know he is a very talented golfer and will go down in history as a record-breaker. I hope that Tiger will be able to solve some of these problems and return to golf with a clear mind.
