Why The Biggest Loser Is My Favorite Television Show: It Inspires Me to Be Healthy And Set Goals

I can hardly wait for Tuesday nights to come. Every week I always so look forward to viewing The Biggest Loser. I make sure the television is set for recording the program just in case I am not home. I have been a fan since the program first aired.

The main reason I love this program is that it is so inspirational. When you see how these contestants' workout in the gym so hard and change their eating habits, it is amazing. It is like magic. Of course we all know that it really isn't magic. Jillian Michaels can reduce you to tears and Bob chooses a more positive approach, but both trainers are successful in their efforts.

Bob and Jillian always seem to get to the bottom of what is really behind the obesity of these wonderful contestants. They teach us that bad eating habits all come down to an emotional issue that has never been resolved. I know personally speaking, I will do the "mindless eating" thing when I am depressed or upset about something. This is when I need Bob and Jillian to say, "Just go to the Gym." Now, I am trying to say it to myself when I have the urge to overeat. If I remember correctly, Jillian's mother is a psychologist and perhaps some of her therapy rubs off on Jillian. (Her mother was on the program one episode and I was hoping that she would be a regular.)

Many of the reality shows are mean-spirited, but I don't see too much of that on The Biggest Loser. Maybe once in a while, someone will do something mean, but it is usually resolved and I believe shown just to teach us a lesson. The lesson being that it is more about the journey of losing weight than playing the game.

I wish that they wouldn't vote anyone off the ranch, but I guess it does have to be competitive to make the contestants try harder. It is always a sad thing for me when each of them has to go home.

These wonderful contestants show their vulnerability and humble desire to lose weight, as they present themselves at the weigh-in clad in shorts, fat showing. This endears me to these contestants even more because I can only imagine how hard that would be to expose yourself to the cameras.

We can all identify with these contestants, whether we are trying to lose weight or fulfill another one of our dreams. We just have to keep on keeping on and work through our struggles and trials.

Thanks, Biggest Loser for making my Tuesday evenings worthwhile, as I root for my favorite participant. I am really rooting for all of them, as I think they are changing my life, along with changing theirs.

If you haven't been watching The Biggest Loser, I will say to you that you will be inspired to be the biggest winner if you watch The Biggest Loser.
