What Was Oprah's Bombshell Announcement? Was It Just A Ploy To Get Ratings?

We all know she doesn't need more money. As Oprah has stated many times before, "I don't need another pair of shoes." So what I am wondering is why hasn't Oprah stepped down long before this? Exactly what does she get from the grind of doing a show every day? Why wouldn't she just want to travel, read and just be Oprah?

First, lets look at the history of this Television Magnet. How did she get where she is today? This is what wikipedia has to say:

Winfrey was born into poverty in rural Mississippi to a teenage single mother and later raised in an inner city Milwaukee. She experienced considerable hardship during her childhood, including being raped the age of nine and becoming pregnant at 14; her son died in infancy. Sent to live with the man she calls her father, a barber in Tennessee. Winfrey landed a job in radio while still in high school and began co-anchoring the local evening news at the age of 19. Her emotional ad-lib delivery eventually got her transferred to the daytime talk show arena, and after boosting a third-rated local Chicago talk show to first place, she launched her own production company and became internationally syndicated.

In addition to the above, Oprah has always liked to read. Reading certainly does broaden your mind and makes you think and perhaps makes you evolve to be a visionary and a pioneer in new thinking.

Oprah certainly is a visionary and pioneer in every way. She got America reading again by starting a Book Club trend. It is huge. America is brimming with Book Clubs. I am in a book club; I am reading more, probably because of Oprah.

Oprah got us all back on the road to being spiritual. In fact, she taught us the difference between being religious and spiritual. She introduced meditation and caused us to be more diverse in our spiritual beliefs. Even if you don't believe as she does, you are exposed to other paths.

She started her own magazine, O and her own production company. She taught us about charity and gave cars and money away.

She also lived real life on television. Remember when she had the lawsuit going because of the statement she made about burgers (didn't want to eat one)? She let us know what was happening in that trial and yet continued airing her daytime show.

Everyone, every book, every product she has endorsed has been pure gold.

She even started her own school.

She announced she will be leaving television. I believe she needs a new challenge. She needs a new setting for her pioneer ideas and inspirations. I think she has gone as far and as many directions as she can in her television show. She needs to be a pioneer in this "thing" that she pursues. Whatever it is, she will lead us down paths we have never been on.

Maybe she will go political; maybe she will build more schools. I don't know what the road might lead but I just think she needs the challenge of something unique.

One thing I know for sure, she doesn't need another pair or shoes.

Oprah, you have my blessing just go. What took you so long?
