Tonight I watched with horror as Shay was voted to come home on the reality show, The Biggest Loser. My heart was breaking for her. How could this happen? She needs to stay there because she has the most to lose.

Shay Sorrells began her journey on this show at a weight of 471 pounds. However, she has lost over 100 pounds in nine weeks. This has set a record on the reality show. She is a busy married mother of two, pursuing a master's degree in social work in Newport Beach, California.

NBC.Com revealed that Shay is a social worker and is always willing to do what it takes to help a client find their motivation and strength. Currently Shay holds a 4.0 in her Master's in Social Work program, which is full-time, meanwhile she works three part time jobs and holds down an internship. Lastly, Shay's weight affects her career as she works with people for whom she is attempting to motivate, and her clients look to her as an example. Shay is eager to once and for all get into shape so she can live a long and healthy life with her husband and stepsons.

The Biggest Loser promotes losing weight by cutting calories and exercise. The science of this weight loss system is described by Wikpedia as:

Weight loss occurs when an individual is in a state of negative energy balance. When the body is consuming more energy (i.e. in work and hear) than it is gaining (i.e. from food or other nutritional supplements), it will use stored reserves from fat or muscle, gradually leading to weight loss.

In tonight's episode Jillian Michaels, one of the trainers on the program was yelling at Shay, "No more tears, No more tears" over and over again as Shay feverishly worked out in the gym. Finally, Shay was able to dry her tears and complete the "last chance workout" before the weigh-in.

Shay, I have something to say to you. You are my hero. You are going to lose another 100 pounds and more. You have got it all inside of you now. I can tell you have the motivation and desire. Something inside of you has "clicked" and you are going to be lean and mean.

So dry those tears for good and May you never look back.

Calvin Coolidge, the 30 th American President (1872-1933) said:

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race"
