Remember the 1996 move, Jerry Maguire ? A well-know phrase was uttered, show me the money .
We are all trying to be frugal and preserve our money right now but lets flip this thought the opposite direction. How about allowing money to find us! You may have money that you do not even know about. Here are some options:
- Now is the time to sell your gold jewelry that you no longer wear. I am told when the stock market goes down, gold goes up in value. I successfully took mine to a local jeweler in Dade City. I was quite surprised and happy with my cash.
- When you apply for a rebate on a purchase, be deligent in watching the mail for that money. Often it can be assumed as junk mail, so check everthing out.
- When changing purses, you may have unintentionally left some money in a previous purse. Than happened to me once and I dellightfully found a $100 bill.
- Check all pockets when doing laundry. Small channge can add up to larger sums over time.

Very good article Fran. So often it's the simple things we overlook.
Hi, Fran!Your article is so very well timed for our current economy. It is amazing how much we waste because we simply do not pay attention. Several years back, this friend of mine convinced me to purchase a large clear glass cookie jar styled container. He told me to just plunk my loose change into it as I was getting undressed. I am still filling my jar, but my friend actually counted his full jar and it was over $1700 worth. The clear glass works better for me as a piggy bank hides my excess change while I can enjoy watching the change accumulate in the clear glass container. My friend never takes change out of his jar - I cheat a little.Dave Ramsey goes on and on about putting cash into envelopes for budgeting purposes. I fall short there, but have learned that my inability to keep from immediately spending cash can in part be aided by putting ATM withdrawals for Craigslist purchases in envelopes rather than my pocket or billfold. This poor Craigslist seller I handed an envelope to recently, almost had a heart attack thinking I was scamming him with a hidden check. That envelope disappeared in a New York second and his face beamed with a wide smile when he was "shown the money!"Thanks for your splendid and valuable article. I enjoyed it a bunch!
