Why is MacKenzie Phillips Telling About an Incestuous Relationship Now?

Why now, MacKenzie?

Do you feel a need to confess? Do you want to expose your father who has passed away? Are you doing this to set an example for our children and teens today? Maybe you just want to be on television again? Did you suddenly remember these events and think it would be entertaining.

I personally think "Why now, MacKenzie?" can be answered in one word Money. That's right. Every time some of these celebrities need money, they always write a book, and then go on the talk show circuit to promote it. Oh, that we hard-working writers who try to write helpful, inspiring words would have that same exposure.

MacKenzie Phillips was on Oprah today. (Shame on you Oprah for having this trashy event exposed in order to possibly get good ratings). I personally am so tired of people making money from their bad deeds and knowing that the shock-value will bring even more money.

Miss Phillips has not proven herself yet. She has only been "clean" for a year. While I understand that drug addiction is an illness, this addiction cannot be an excuse for incest. She even told Oprah that she knew the relationship with her father was wrong.

In addition to promoting this "sick book", some of the family members are not falling for her story. Her stepmother, Michele Phillips had this to say:

"John was a bad parent, and a drug addict. But f****ing his daughter? If she thinks it's true, why isn't she with a good psychiatrist on a couch? I think it's unconscionable that Oprah would let her do her show. I have every reason to believe it's untrue."

In her interview with Oprah, Phillips also blames her father--who died in 2001 of heart attack--for introducing her to drugs. She "forgave" him on his deathbed.

Mackenzie Phillips is saying she wrote the book in terms of an advocate for victims of consensual incest. "I can't be the only one this happened to. Somebody has to come forward and put a face on consensual incest."

Please! I don't think this book will actually be in school or local libraries as "help for victims of consensual incest."

I don't even want to mention the name of the book because I certainly do not want to promote it.

How about it? Am I the only one enraged by this money-hungry, (has been) celebrity)?

Mackenzie Phillips,

I hope that you are being truthful, examine your heart... as a recovering alcoholic, I know that I had some false memories. Regardless, I hope that you are getting the counseling you need for your recovery.
